Top 10 Interesting Things I Saw In Colombia
If you still haven't done it, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! Jason
Here are some interesting things I saw in Colombia:

In Colombia, they provide gloves for eating all finger food (ribs, wings, etc.)... "It's the way of the future"

In Colombia, human phone booths are replacing the machines. This guy is selling minutes on his cell phone.

In Colombia, they put two male police officers on every motorcycle. Vibrations + penis-to-anus proximity = a little gay.

In Colombia, you can drink an ice-cold bag of water. Just bite the corner and suck. "The way of the future?"

In Colombia, men are out-numbered 2:1 by beautiful women (see above picture). That's why they can have mullets (or hair like this) and still get girls.

In Colombia, the people are a little racist towards black people. Yet they have jeans called "niggaz". There is no double g in Spanish btw.

In Colombia, Immigration won't let you enter if you're wearing shorts. But across the street I rented these extremely fashionable pants for $1.

First Rule For Gringos in Third-World Countries
If you’ve spent a majority of your life in first-world countries . . .
I think I’m adapting because I didn’t get too sick.
I think I’ll stick to what’s tried and true:

How to Make “Zenu Superperro Hot Dogs”
Today I discovered a great afternoon snack (which in Espanol is called “el merienda”). For the last 5 weeks in Medellin, I’ve been seeing Zenu meats in every grocery store. It seems Zenu has established a monopoly over Colombia’s cold cut market.
Since I was unable to establish any connection between “Industria de Alimentos Zenu S.A.” and any evil forces, I figured it would be safe to make some Zenu Superperros for my “el merienda” today.
So I grabbed a pack of 10 superperros at the local supermercado:

Why “Superperros”? Well, first of all, it says so on the plastic wrapper.
Secondly, I’ve now learned that anything good in Colombia is preceded by “super”. For example:
“Super rico” = very delicious . . . both food and events can be delicious here
“Super chevere!” = very cool . . . probably my favorite expression in Espanol
“Super facil” = very easy
“Supertaxi” = my driver’s car (it says so on the back)
“Superperro” = very good hot dog… apparently
To make two Zenu Superperro Hot Dogs, you need:
- (2) Zenu Superperros
- (2) slices of Bimbo bread (fruticereal)
- (1) slice of Colanta cheddar cheese
- Mostaza (a South American attempt at yellow mustard)
- Salsa de Tomate (ketchup)
- Lime
- Onion
- San Jorge Salsa de Aji
All the ingredients, nicely displayed in my kitchen.
Mmmm… the smell of Zenu cooking in the morning.
Eat this…

Medellin, Colombia After Three Weeks
It’s been three weeks since I arrived in Medellin, Colombia.
When I stepped off the airplane from Pereira, Colombia (with Nicky Jam–these reggaeton guys who I’ve now discovered are famous), I felt the energy of the city and had a very good feeling about my future experience here. I landed in the middle of the city at the smaller, local airport. I stepped out on the landing strip. The cool Medellin air of Eternal Spring filled my lungs. I looked around and found I was surrounded by lush mountains. At that moment, the city had a calming effect on me and I knew there were good things in store for me here.
After three weeks, I now know my intuition was correct. Every new day here in Medellin gives me another reason for loving the place. The energy of the city, the beauty of the surrounding countryside, the perfect year-round climate… the ratio of two beautiful Paisa women to each man.
So far the adventure has been building up at a nice, slow pace. More details coming soon…
